Sustainability

The world has seen a lot of change since 200 BC, when kombucha is first thought to have originated. Although perhaps not all of this change has been positive, we’re keen to do our bit to tread gently on the earth, and honour the ethos of this ’elixir of life’.

Sustainability

The Basics

  • We reduce waste wherever possible, collecting boxes and packaging from our deliveries for re-use.
  • Our bottles are made from 75% recycled glass.
  • Our teas are certified Organic and sourced from farms which are part of the Ethical Tea Partnership, which amongst other commitments, is dedicated to living wages, equal opportunities and zero deforestation.
Kombucha Sustainability

We work in proud partnership with The Soil Farm in Guernsey. Their mission is to regenerate Earth’s most precious resource, soil, through education and working with business like ours.

Going Further

Healthy soil sequesters carbon, gives us our food, prevents floods, completes the cycle of life, combats drought and is home to more microbes than there are stars in the galaxy. But our soils are under threat. Intensive farming, pollution and climate change all threaten this black gold beneath our feet.

Our SCOBYs are continually growing, and after a few brews it’s time to hand over the hard work of fermenting to their daughters. These retired SCOBYs are taken to The Soil Farm, where they are added, along with carbon rich cardboard and our used botanicals to the compost heap, where they break down and enrich the soil. As patient with the soil as we are with our brewing process, the team use this newly created compost to grow nutrient dense veggies, herbs and even sell for local people to use in their own garden. We think it’s recycling at its finest.
